Funerals for the living

Funerals aren’t for the dead, they are for the living. The dead has long since passed beyond caring and time; funerals hold no meaning for them. When someone dies, time lapses. Funerals are there to provide a closure for those still alive, to feel an end more substantial than something as flitting as death.  So that time could start again; so that those living can move on from one moment to the next.

Neither dying nor death is as terrifying as wondering how many people would need a proper closure because you died.
